Résumés are essential for landing a job you desire, especially to showcase your skills and experience (maybe add a few bragging rights in there if you worked for great companies).

Recruiters, and human resources departments for companies receive hundreds, and maybe even thousands of résumé depending on the company size, but the hard part is not getting your résumé to them. The hard part is actually standing out once your résumé is in their department, and even if you use a great type size, good legible and readable typefaces, and manage to condense everything on one page (sometimes hard to do depending on the fields that require massive experience or skill set), which is not easy to do sometimes.
